VENICE
THE EXPERIENCE
Venice is magic. Venice is beautiful. Venice is a floating miracle. It is divided into 6 neighborhoods or “sestieri” and rests on 118 islands separated by 150 canals.
Emerging in the 9th century as the first real financial center, Venice has been a wealthy city throughout most of history. It was a maritime power through conflicts and challenges such as the Black Death. Eventually, Venice suffered a decline in the 18th century then saw a resurgence in tourism in the 19th century. Venice has always had many monikers such as La Serenissima, The Floating City and The Queen of the Adriatic.
The lagoon and the historic parts of the city became a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1987. Venice is one of the most unique and storied cities in the world.
Famous Venetians: Marco Polo, Tintoretto, Antonio Vivaldi, Casanova and Canaletto to name a few.
